KINGSTON, Jamaica; A total of 29, 289 names were added to the National Voters’ List published on May 31, 2022. These newly registered electors are now eligible to vote in future local government or parliamentary elections. The names of 3,361 electors who are no longer eligible to vote were removed from the list to include 2,919 dead electors. This brings the total number of electors on the Voters’ List to 1,984, 636 compared to 1,958,708, names published on the November 30, 2021 list.
Once Voter ID cards for electors added to the May 31, 2022 Voters’ List are ready, they will be able to collect their new voter ID card at the Electoral Office of Jamaica (EOJ) office in the constituency where they are registered.
Voter ID Card Registration is open to individuals 18 years and older who are citizens of Jamaica or citizens of the Commonwealth residing in Jamaica for at least 12 consecutive months. Individuals who fall within this category should visit any EOJ constituency office to register. The deadline to register for the next Voters’ List is September 30, 2022.
The Voters’ List is published twice per year – May 31 and November 30. Persons who successfully register between April 1, 2022 and September 30, 2022 will be added to the November 30, 2022 list.
The EOJ is strongly encouraging registered electors who have applied for a renewal or had their expired voter ID automatically renewed to visit their pick-up location to collect the new voter registration identification card without delay. Electors can confirm their pick-up location by visiting the ECJ website at www.ecj.com.jm/query or contacting the EOJ at 888 991 8683.
