Further Closure Extension of ALL EOJ Constituency Offices

KINGSTON, Jamaica; The Electoral Office of Jamaica (EOJ) has further extended the closure of all EOJ constituency offices to the public until further notice, in light of the increased confirmed cases of the novel coronavirus.

The announcement comes April 30, the date which the EOJ had indicated in an earlier release that its offices would have been closed until. The decision to extend comes in light of the increased spread of Covid-19 and the EOJ’s efforts to protect its employees and by extension the public from contracting the virus.

“In light of our previous release, we are aware that members of the public would be anticipating an opening of our offices on May 1, 2020. We want to however advise, that the EOJ has decided to extend the closure of our offices to the public, in an effort to limit traffic into our offices as we continue to monitor the spread of the coronavirus and adhere to the instructions and advise of the Ministry of Health and Wellness,” said Glasspole Brown, Director of Elections.

Additionally, members of the public who were previously issued summons to attend Returning Officers’ sittings in April 2020, which were rescheduled to May 5 and 6 are being informed that those sittings have been postponed until further advised.
