Final Counts Completed for Local Govt Elections EOJ summoned to three Magisterial Recounts

KINGSTON, Jamaica; The Electoral Office of Jamaica (EOJ) completed the final counting of ballots for the mayoral elections in the Municipality of Portmore on Friday, December 2. This concludes the final counting of votes for the Local Government Elections held on November 28.

The EOJ has been summoned to three magisterial recounts, the latest being for the Ginger Ridge Division in St. Catherine West Central, slated for Monday, December 5. The People’s National Party (PNP) candidate for the Division won by a margin of 16 votes in the final count. There were 24 rejected ballots.

Early today, the EOJ received summonses for the Salt Spring Division in St. James Central and the Llandewey Division in St. Thomas Western. The magisterial recounts for these two Divisions are scheduled for Monday, December 5 and Tuesday, December 6 respectively.
