KINGSTON, Jamaica; Mr. Glendon Bennett and Reverend Lenworth Sterling from the Electoral Office of Jamaica (EOJ) will form part of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) Election Observation Mission to the General and Regional Elections in Guyana scheduled for Monday, March 2.
Mr. Bennett, Operations Manager and Reverend Sterling, Returning Officer for the constituency of St. Ann South Western, are senior members of the EOJ with extensive experience in electoral management and administration.
Election Observation Missions are mounted to certify the transparency of electoral processes, to invest confidence in the results of the elections, and to make recommendations for the improvement of electoral systems.
Ms. Cynthia Cleopatra Combie Martyr of Saint Lucia will serve as Chief of Mission and will lead a team of electoral management experts from Antigua and Barbuda, The Bahamas, Barbados, Haiti, Saint Lucia, St. Kitts and Nevis, St. Vincent and the Grenadines, Suriname and Trinidad and Tobago, in addition to Jamaica.
Mr. Bennett and Reverend Sterling departed Jamaica on February 27. The delegation is expected to remain in Guyana until March 4.
