Delayed Distribution of Voter ID Cards

KINGSTON, Jamaica – The printing of the Voter Identification Cards for the 26,259 electors added to the May 31, 2016 voters’ list will be delayed. The Electoral Office of Jamaica is reporting that the card production equipment recently started malfunctioning, resulting in a delay in the printing process.

“We are experiencing some unexpected difficulties with our card printer. However, we are working assiduously to have the equipment fully functional again in the shortest possible time,” says, Director of Elections, Mr. Orrette Fisher.

Printing of the cards, which were slated to be ready by mid-June, will resume as soon as the equipment has been fully restored. Once the cards are available, electors will be advised to visit their EOJ Constituency office to collect the Elector Registration Identification Cards.

The Electoral Office of Jamaica apologises for any inconvenience caused.
